Meet the Crumbs, a family of field mice: Mama, Papa, Eddie, and Sara. When their home in the field is destroyed in a storm, the family moves into a dollhouse in the home of a piano teacher.
Eddie loves the new sound of piano music, and wants to become a musician. So he watches piano lessons through a wall vent, and practices everything he learns on the dollhouse piano. The only problem is that his pretend piano is really a music box, and will play only one tune. Sara, eager to learn also, sneaks to piano lessons along with her big brother. All would be fine except for Jazzabell, the cat who likes to sniff around and chase mice.
When spring arrives it is time to leave the big white farmhouse and return to the field. But music has touched the lives of the Crumb family, and they can't leave it behind. Papa crumb unveils a special project that will keep music with them forever.
