Reviews and Teacher FeedbackIf there is one thing I love it’s color! My studio is full of color, and I can’t think of a more exciting collection of pieces than this one Rebekah Maxner (composer of the fabulous Old MacDonald Had the Blues piano book) has put together devoted just to color! Let me introduce you to…The Color Collection! With titles like Orange Juice, Green Shade, Gray Day, Rainbow Swirl, and more, these intermediate level pieces are sure to grab the imagination of lots of piano students.... Natalie Wickham's Music Matters Blog - read the full review The Color Collection- Rebekah Maxner (Grades 3-7) All of the pieces in this collection give the students an opportunity to create the mood of each color. Blue Train (3), with the fun swing eights and syncopated rhythms, will be loved by the students. Green Shade (6) is a very beautiful mellow piece in 6/8 time which will appeal to the sensitive students, while Red Line (6/7) has a very intense boogie-inspired bass line and a big exciting finish. Rita Raymond-Millett, The Quarter Note Newsletter of the New Brunswick Registered Music Teachers' Association From the PrefaceWhat makes a happy piece sound happy, and what makes a sad piece sound sad? As you crack the code of what makes each piece tick, you will begin to gain a deeper understanding of articulation, dynamics, and key signatures, and the affect they have on the mood of music. This collection is inspired by Patricia Godwin's book I Feel Orange Today (Annick Press). It is a charming book that compares moods to colors, and how you feel on certain days. I recommend that you find this book. The poetry may help you understand how to express the music. "Thank you, Rebekah, for your delightful, imaginative melodies that have captured the essence of the feelings expressed in my book I Feel Orange Today." - Patricia Godwin |
